"ON-BLOX" CLUB HOME PAGE:

Welcome.....
This "ON-BLOX" CLUB internet blogspot is being developed to provide an online interactive getting together place for retired AIR NEW ZEALAND INTERNATIONAL aviators to be able to share their old photos, nostalgic tales, memorabilia, helpful information etc.

PAGES INDEX: ..... clicking on any of the ten topics in the pages index will take you to the subject matter displayed on that page.

To ensure that during the early stage of development, this internet enterprise remains viable and manageable in terms of the numbers who may become involved, this website project is initially aimed at retired AIR NEW ZEALAND INTERNATIONAL aircrew.

Guy Clapshaw, who organises our lunch and dinner functions, has asked that you please pass on the word that the Social Club of this "ON-BLOX" fraternity also invites and welcomes  any airline technical person and their spouse or partner who may be interested.... (Pilot, Flight Engineer, Navigator, Radio Operator, Despatcher, Traffic manager, Instructor).... from any airline.... (ie. NAC, QANTAS, Air Nelson, BOAC, TEAL, American Airlines, United, Pan Am, British European Airways, Air France, Union Airways, Eagle, UTA, Tourist Air Travel, SPANZ, Ansett, Aerolineas Aergentinas, Lufthansa, etc.) ..... see "ON-BLOX" CLUB NOTICE BOARD: for details of our next function....and how to register on our mail list.

It is proposed that the ongoing development of this website becomes a collaborative project.....

You are all urged to participate.....

We invite you to open your old boxes of colour slides, photo albums, or any shoe boxes that may contain old pictures, newspaper cuttings and any other pertinent aviation memorabilia .....share your memories with us!

Please forward your inputs to nznative01@gmail.com

Establishing this dedicated website was a logical follow on from the undeniable success of  our "ON-BLOX"  Email address data base project.

That Email list originated back in 2004 when it became quite apparent that the rather disappointing turnout at Captain Tony Lynch's funeral service was as a result of too many of his old friends and colleagues simply not being aware of his untimely demise.

When a similar situation occurred again two weeks later at another funeral service, this time for Flight Engineer Bill Freeman, I figured that maybe we should utilise the communications potential available via the use of Emails to help keep each other in the loop.

Hence we began organising our "ON-BLOX" Email address data base list which is still growing and now has 212 members.

We can now use Emails to notify events, dates and venue details to our ever increasing numbers of retired Air New Zealand aircrew who are now scattered all over NZ .... plus the many now living offshore.

To those of you who are in touch with other retired Air New Zealand aviators who may wish to be included in our "ON-BLOX" Email list .... please let them...... and us know? .....Email details to nznative01@gmail.com

By having one page dedicated as an "ON-BLOX" CLUB NOTICE BOARD, this website should also serve to further enhance our "ON-BLOX" Club communications capabilities.

As this website is utilising Google's http://www.blogger.com/ facility, it has some limitations, however it will provide us with the opportunity to gauge what level of interest and support we can expect from retired Air New Zealand aviators and indicate whether a dedicated "ON-BLOX" Website may be required?

Helpful Hints .....

Running your cursor over most of the items on this website that are  Highlighted then clicking on it should provide a convenient link to a pertinent webpage.

If you left click on any graphic within this site it should open in a new window....If you then left click again in that new window the article should magnify .... you may then choose to right click on it if you wish to save, or Email it.

Are you aware that ....
  1. a mouse right click on any website link will display a drop down menu?.... left click the "Open in new tab" option will allow you to have multiple web pages available.
  2. a mouse right click on any webpage will display a drop down menu with a 'Create Shortcut'  option... handy for placing a shortcut on your desktop for easy return to that page at a later date.

Holding Ctrl and hitting + (as often as you require) will enlarge the screen view for those of us with less than 20/20 eyesight
